Eventide

And He set that sun
a-blazing in the heavens
until it rolled over to the horizon
when the day was done.

He sat back
with a charming grin
of sorts, as stars sprinkled
over a canvas of black.

The earth, bathed
in a mystic glow, held
a new innocence that captured
the world as if unscathed.

Even the wind
whispered to Him, sharing
secrets and catching up
like an old friend.

The darkness
blanketed His creation
and tucked in those
nightmares causing distress.

For that short time between
dusk and dawn,
moonlight revealed what
often goes unseen:

a beauty too pure
for the fiery sun, a stealthy
change of essence, and a
certain cryptic allure.
